WTFem! - Felicia Farrante

Artist Statement

“I want my art to play a role in lifting peoples spirits, in challenging their assumptions. I want women to look at these other women and feel a sense of confidence, power and freedom.”

WTFem! hones power, perseverance and resilience; exhibiting the kinds of Queens that know that their crowns aren’t on their heads, but in their soul. This idea of empowering women through art is another tool for supporting women around the world. It is a strong weapon to deliver messages to masses. So while some take a stand on international tribunes, many artists promote the idea of feminism and empower women through art. Very often, words are not enough for expressing our thoughts and feelings. Many people seek for alternative ways of expression or reflection of such thoughts and feelings. In this experience of “empowerment art,” FXF|Farrante expresses the message of feminism for uplifting and supporting women in a society where we sometimes get lost or forgotten.

FXF|Farrante is a unique Crucian female artist, a representative of women empowerment art. There is so much power, strength and sexuality in both the paintings and the drawings. But, in these pieces, you won't find a direct feminist message. Therefore, to understand the full idea of her works, you’ll have to go deeper into her art and her soul. In her paintings, the artist defines women as fighters and defenders. They are women of strength and power. They are women who are ready to fight back. They are women who hold their heads high with their shoulders back. They are women who have found self-love, or are going through that journey to find self-love, so that we can break free from all that has the potential of holding us back. They are beautiful inside and out and they are reminders that it is okay to lose ourselves so that we can rebuild ourselves. They are people who I once was and they are women that I desire to be.
